The Catholic Church is the world’s largest Christian church, with more than 1.2 billion members. It is among the oldest organizations in the world, and has played a huge role in the history of Western civilization.

Led by the Pope (the Bishop of Rome and the leader of the church worldwide), the church is based upon the faith that Jesus Christ passed to the twelve apostles, and which has been passed down through generations for the past 2,000 years.
